I guess we're throwing in the scope, mount and tripod free and still selling it for less. If you add just the price you'd pay for the two eyepieces and the 497 Autostar if you ordered them from any Meade internet retailer - your already over $300. I have used the mount with my Brandon 80mm very sucessfully for wide field observing and only use the DSX tube for lunar (and hopefully planetary when Saturn and Jupiter come back). Unlike the ETX mount, the DSX mount has a flat mounting plate for quickly mounting any scope under 15 pounds and under 5" diameter. It also comes with 1.25" 26mm and 10mm Meade Super Plossls (4000 series) unlike the cheap Modified Achromats and Huygens of the last generation of DS scopes. The alt/az mount is cast aluminum - vastly superior to the bouncy plastic Meade used on the last generation of DS instruments. This last one means setting the scope up on the tripod and mount so is more involved, basically they may not want the hassle of doing so.Complete new system perfect for a beginner or someone who needs lightweight and portability. The scope goes through the alignment motions - should select a first star and slew to it, select a second star and slews to that then says Alignment successful. If the scope slews up/down/left/right, and, better, if the seller will set it up roughly North and Level then select Align. I cannot really say No as I sit here looking at a small Meade ETX70 that is not as big as the one you are considering that I have had for the last 10+ years and that works fine and is used a lot.
